hey Tim and Chris the term "expat" means expatriate and it refers to many people from China that left due to the communist regime. they moved to Taiwan and is one of the reasons Taiwan and China are often at ends. for further reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expatriate
anyway other than setting back foreign relations 20 years great podcast. fun as always
or can also refer to Americans/non-Taiwanese living in Taiwan usually for their job or economic reasons. which is actually probably what the caller was talking about...anyway "expat" =/= "expert"
